Embedded Insurance: Combined Medical and Dental Insurance with Denial of Benefits Till Annual Medical Deductibles are met- Juniper Publishers

Image
Juniper Publishers-Open Access Journal of Dentistry & Oral Health Editorial In an age where economic times are challenged, innovative measures are often sought in an effort to maintain and enhance corporate profits. This is becoming no different in the health care industry, particularly the insurance side of things. Over the span of six months one subtle yet noticeable phenomenon that has invaded the realm of dental insurance benefits and claims has become the concept of “embedded health care.” Regrettably this has progressed from conceptual to harsh reality. Both major carriers and others are falling in line to seek strategies to improve their bottom lines and avoid paying claims which until now have been taken for granted by most everyone with conventional forms of dental insurance. For patrons of the same medical insurance company as their dental coverage, the bulk of carriers are beginning to consolidate medical with dental benefits into what is

Reattachment of a Fractured Crown Fragment of the Maxillary Central Incisor : a Case Report- Juniper Publishers

Image
Juniper Publishers-Open Access Journal of Dentistry & Oral Health Abstract The Most Common traumatic dental injury is the uncomplicated crown fracture of the maxillary central incisor. Various reports have been presented about reattachment of the crown fragment, and literature reviews have cited that reattachment using an adhesive bonding agent is the best way of treating these injuries if the fragment is available, perfectlyadapted and properly stored. The present casereport describes an uncomplicated crown fracture of the maxillary right central incisor in a young patient who has 11 years old. The crown fragment was successfully re attached to the tooth using an acid-etchand adhesive bonding resin technique. After 1 years of following-up, the reattached fragment presents satisfying esthetics and excellent function. Keywords: Uncomplicated crown fracture; Reattachment; Adhesive bonding resin Introduction The traumatic dental injuries are becoming

Direct Transference of Emergence Profile in Implant Supported Fixed Bridges- Juniper Publishers

Image
Juniper Publishers-Open Access Journal of Dentistry & Oral Health Abstract An implant restoration in the anterior area requires careful management of soft and hard tissues due to biological, functional and aesthetics requisites. The use of provisional restorations is necessary to create a proper emergence profile and mimic the natural dentition and their supporting gingival tissues. It also contributes to the health of peri-implant tissues and facilitates to perform a correct oral hygiene. Transferring the shape of the created emergence profile is key to fabricating the proper final restoration. This report describes a direct technique to take a final impression of an implant-supported bridge. Impression abutments and flowable composite resin were used to fill the gingival emergence profile and obtain a precise master model cast. Keywords: Emergence profile; Implant; Pontic; flowable composite resins Introduct

Image
Juniper Publishers-Open Access Journal of Dentistry & Oral Health Abstract Objectives: To engage families with young children and empower them to inform service provision; explore the views and expectations of families with young children in West Norwood area of how dental services may be best provided at the West Norwood Health and Leisure Centre (WNHLC); explore barriers to dental care, uptake and use of dental services. Research design: Cross-sectional questionnaire survey Participants: 1,016 parents/guardians with children aged seven and under. Main outcome measure: Willingness to access the dental service. Results: An overall response rate of 24% (246/1016) was achieved. The majority (72%, n=178) were unaware of the dental services at the Centre. Lack of convenient appointment times (43%, n=106) was the most common barrier to accessing dental care reported by families. Approximately 48% of parents indicated their willingness to bring their child

The Relationship Between Resonance Frequency Analysis (RFA) and Insertion Torque of Dental Implants: an in Vitro Study- Juniper Publishers

Image
Juniper Publishers-Open Access Journal of Advances in Dentistry & Oral Health Abstract Purpose: The aims of the present study are to correlate the ISQ values, registered by the Osstell ISQ system, with the insertion torque during the placement of the implant, and to assess the influence of the thread initiator on the ISQ values and on the insertion torque. Materials and methods: 140 rough surface implants screw-shaped implants, placed in 10 bovine ribs, were assigned to Group A (using the thread initiator before the insertion of the implant) or Group B (thread initiator was not used). The implants were implantedusing a manual torque wrench so insertion torque was registered. Once the implants were in place, primary stability was measured by means of RFA with the Osstell ISQ. Results: When the thread initiator was used (group A), the mean insertion torque was 24,36 ± 14,88 N and when the thread initiator was not used (group B) the mean insertion tor

Prosthetic Rehabilitation of the Edentulous Mandible with two-Implants Retained Overdenture Using Ball Attachments: A Case Report- Juniper Publishers

Image
Juniper Publishers - Open Access Journal of Dentistry & Oral Health Abstract Edentulous patients have been treated with conventional complete maxillary and mandibular dentures as a primary treatment modality. Suitable complete maxillary dentures are usually well tolerated but many patients struggle to chew and swallow with the complete mandibular denture because it is too unstable. Previous studies have shown that a mandibular two-implant retained overdenture is superior to conventional denture in terms of retention and stability. Thereby, the two-implant assisted mandibular overdenture should be the first treatment option for mandibular edentulous patients. In this report, a mandibular two-implant retained overdenture with ball attachments using direct intraoral pick-up technique is discussed.
