The Solution to Silver Diamine Fluoride Discoloration?- Juniper Publishers Authored by  Primus Consulting Abstract Introduction: Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is increasingly recognized as a cost-effective, easy-to-use alternative to reduce sensitivity and arrest caries. However, SDF causes black staining of caries. Potassium iodide (KI) treatment with SDF may decrease or lessen the staining. However, the effectiveness of KI on staining has not been investigated. This study examined SDF/KI with various restorative materials, on carious and sound tooth structure. Methods: Ten groups of teeth were treated to evaluate the effect of KI and SDF treatment.
